In the case of a corrupt memory card, if your camera, phone or computer displays an “error” message, does not show up or cannot access the memory card, then do not use it again or format it; avoid writing anything else to the memory card. Any further usage may result in overwriting the images & video already on the memory card. Do not run any software that attempts to repair or check for errors such as chkdsk, etc., and if you have a microSD card which has snapped, ensure that both parts of the snap remain together. The less you use the memory card after damage the greater chance we have of recovering the content.

Memory card recovery entails making a complete copy of each file stored on the memory card without modifying the contents of the card in any way. In cases where a memory card is damaged beyond its ability to function normally, we take two approaches. First, we make a complete image of the entire card. Second, we build/rebuild your files from this image. In those instances where a user reports that their memory card has physically failed (i.e., broken/snapped) we can bypass the file system entirely and read directly off the memory chips themselves.
Please let us know what went wrong: i.e. corrupt, not reading, snapped, accidentally reformatted. Once we understand how things went wrong we’ll provide a detailed written quote, usually within 48 hours, outlining our findings and what options are available to recover your memories.
We immediately create a read-only “image” for a card that will continue to read as it does not need to be modified; therefore your original card is never altered and the data remains intact.
If we cannot detect the card, we either clean/repair the contact points or bypass the controller in order to access the memory internally.
When a dead, snapped, or monolithic card exists, we would either expose the internal contacts, or remove the chip (in this case) to then read the NAND flash directly. The cost of this type of recovery is 50% upfront of the total fees.
Once we have built the file system from the image provided we will begin to retrieve your files. In cases when the file structure has been damaged we can manually extract the photos & video from the raw data itself.
We test each photo & video retrieved after being rebuilt by opening them up and checking if they are complete before returning anything to you.

The memory card was pulled while writing in progress. The file structure on the memory card was damaged. We imaged the card as read-only. We restored the file structure and recovered all of the photos and videos.
There was no need for disassembly, so we exposed the inner contact areas and directly read the memory area to recover all photos.

Yes, in many cases; this is the most common card we see. When a memory card appears as being corrupted or wants to be reformatted, in virtually all cases, the photos and videos remain but the file system will have been damaged. We then image the card (copy everything), repair the file system and recover your files. Do NOT attempt to format the card.
In many instances, yes. Memory cards that appear as ‘no card’, ‘not recognised’ or ‘0 bytes’ usually suffer from an internally faulty controller while the storage area containing your photos remains intact. As our equipment allows direct access to the memory chip via the internal contacts of monolithic memory cards, we can recover the data stored within.
Both YES and NO depending on whether the memory chip itself has been crushed. microSD cards are essentially a single chip contained inside a casing so there’s little for you to disconnect; instead we expose the internal contacts and connect wiring to them in order to access the memory and retrieve your files. Please keep both parts together should the card split.
Most likely no. Memory cards do not typically overwrite files (photos) upon deletion or formatting (unlike some solid state drives). This means that once you’ve performed a quick in-camera format, the images are retained on the memory card until they’re overwritten by new files. Stop using the card in the camera immediately, and contact us; the earlier we review the card, the greater your chances of recovery.
We charge a fixed price of £250 + VAT for recovering a single memory card. Prior to charging this fee, we provide you with a complimentary diagnostic and written quote for the job. If we need to rebuild a corrupted card, or perform chip level repairs on a card that’s dead or broken into two pieces, we’ll require 50% payment up front; this way if we cannot recover your data, you won’t incur the cost of the entire job. In most cases you only pay if we recover your data.
Typically yes. With respect to our rebuilding service or performing chip-level repairs on a dead memory card, we ask for 50% downpayment prior to commencing work. Therefore, with these jobs where we fail to recover your data, you will only pay half of the total quoted cost.
All makes and types of memory cards including SanDisk, Samsung, Lexar, Kingston, Sony and many other brands; and all sizes/types of memory cards: SD, microSD, CompactFlash (CF), CFexpress, XQD and Memory Sticks. The brand rarely affects whether the data is recoverable.
If you have not locked your SD card using the switch then this is likely due to failed memory/firmware on the card. Your data should remain intact. Please bring the card to us and we will image it as it currently stands and attempt to recover your files while it is still possible.
In the case of accidental deletions, some programs may be able to recover deleted items. However if you have a corrupted, unrecognised or physically damaged SD card; then the above mentioned software cannot assist and attempting to write new information to the SD card could result in overwriting your images. Therefore if you consider the contents of the card important please do not proceed until you have had it imaged by us first.
Typically recoveries for corruption and deletions are completed in a period of 2 to 3 working days. Cards which are dead, broken/snapped, monolithic or in a state of complete failure typically require more time (3 to 4 working days) dependent upon the condition of the card.
