You can re-run an experiment, but years’ worth of collected data usually can’t be. We see research that is equivalent to a whole PhD, multi-year grant or dataset which cannot be gathered again, so we treat it accordingly. We image every drive read-only before touching the data, rebuild failed arrays virtually (thus nothing is written to your originals), and recover as much as physically possible. There are two ways to deliver your drives to us: either drop them off in person or post them in with sufficient insurance coverage. After receiving your drives, we will notify you of what can be recovered from each one.
Before commencing any chargeable work, you will receive a fixed written quote, along with an estimated time frame for completion of the project.
In-house recovery, verification and delivery of your recovered data back to you via new encrypted media or secure file download.

To get started with recovering your data, first get your device to us. Wrap it securely, write your contact details on a slip of paper inside the package, include a brief description of what happened and post it to us. After running a complimentary diagnostic we will write to you confirming the exact price prior to starting work.
Do you want to post the device to us? We highly recommend using a trackable postal service with insurance. Would you prefer to deliver it yourself? That’s fine too. Our office hours for accepting deliveries are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. Please make sure to wrap the device as described previously.

Yes. As mentioned earlier we build the RAID array virtually using read-only images of each disk even when multiple drives have failed. Remove the drives, label them by their bay order and only send the drives not the enclosure.
Yes. External hard disk recovery is one of the most common types of jobs that we get asked to do. We recover failed laptops and external hard drives; please tell us your submission deadline when you contact us and we’ll prioritise this job.
Yes. We don’t pass your data to any third party engineers; our own in-house engineers handle all recovery jobs; your data never leaves the UK; we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO); we are compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If required, we can sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) which would allow you to protect funded or commercially sensitive research projects.
Yes. We can invoice the university or department and accept purchase orders on a 30 day terms basis for established accounts.
No. Unfortunately, we don’t offer on-site recovery/collections. However, you can drop off/post drives fully insured. For a research RAID array, simply remove all the drives and post/send just the disks.
The cost will depend upon the type of device; single drive costs are £300 + VAT while RAID and NAS systems can start from £500 + VAT, but we do offer a no charge diagnostic and written quotation prior to commencing work. In most cases you only pay if we recover your data.
Yes. Based in Bristol, we provide data recovery services for research and academic institutions throughout the UK including those located within the university community in Bristol. In addition to providing drop-off facilities for devices (by appointment), we also accept fully insured items sent in for us to recover data from; in either case, the recovered data will remain in the UK.
